Getting started
Let AI install it
Paste one prompt and Claude handles install through connection on its own.
Claude Code (including the "Code" tab in the desktop app) can run terminal commands on its own. That means you can hand off the whole install-and-connect process — all you have to do is click "Allow" once in the browser.
Paste this into Claude
Install and connect the Comitia CLI.
1. Run `node -v` to check if Node.js is installed. If it's missing or below 18, stop and tell me to install the LTS version from https://nodejs.org.
2. Install with `npm i -g comitia`. If you get a permission error (EACCES), ask me to run `sudo npm i -g comitia` myself — I'll enter the password.
3. Run `comitia init -g`. When the browser opens, wait for me to click "Allow."
4. When it's done, run `comitia recent 5` to show what's come in recently, and tell me in one line whether it worked.
What happens
- Claude checks for Node.js and installs comitia
comitia init -gopens your browser — pick a workspace and permission level, then click "Allow"- The terminal shows "Connected," and Claude shows you a few recent Slack messages and meeting notes
- From here on, you can just ask in any new conversation
⚠️ Before you connect — anything you bring into Comitia is visible to everyone in the same workspace, including your connected AI. There's no per-item access control yet, so don't add anything that needs to stay private — payroll, HR, personal data.
If it doesn't work
- "It needs my sudo password" — paste the command Claude gave you directly into the terminal yourself and enter your Mac password (it's normal for nothing to show up as you type)
- The browser doesn't open — paste the address Claude showed you into your browser
